From "Papa" Carl
My Sweet Dream: When Keith sent me the basic lyrics for "My
Sweet Dream", he told me it might be something I'd like to "mess"
with.  I guessed he said that based on emails we had exchanged
about our lives and histories.  When I read those lyrics I
immediately thought of the years ' 67 to Spring of ' 69.  I had
gone through a very dark period after I graduated from college.
My Dad suddenly passed away, and a serious relationship I'd
been in went bad.  I was also in a period where I was restless,
wanting to do something different and being influenced by all that
was going on around me.  I had friend from high school who had
moved into Manhattan and I started hanging out with him a lot
and met a whole bunch of new people.  I also was working with a
girl who lived in Greenwich Village.  We were never a "pair" but
did have some wild nights together.  Anyway, the lyrics to the
song made me think of all the great hippie babes that had helped
me make it through not only a night but a rough time in my life.  I
really didn't handle the death of my father well.  So, I took the
words Keith sent, worked with them and added some verses and
then rearranged some stuff.  I sent it back and Keith said he liked
it...he was very kind by saying he couldn't remember what part he
wrote...the idea was his, and you will hear the classic Keith type
lines.  Then I was challenged by another friend to play something
that wasn't so dark, blues oriented etc.  So, I came up with the
music that worked with the lyrics.  Keith was shocked I think, but
he told me to go ahead, "it works for you Carl".  To me, that song
brings back some great nights and the memories that live in "the
shadows that the streetlights cast." I will really miss Keith.

You've Run Out of Time: I was mucking around with a chord
progression and, as usual, struggling to come up with some lyrics
to try to make a real song out of it.  In the meantime, Keith had
posted this set of lyrics to the alt.guitar newsgroup, and he had
previously challenged me to write some music to go with this stuff.
 Anyway, this is the result.

Six Days: Keith sent me an mp3 with his vocal / harp + an
unknown acoustic player. I added the rest.
I've read Keith's posts on alt.guitar for years.... Never really
responded...just read 'em. Sometimes I agreed, sometimes not.
A couple of years ago, he was really getting hammered by some
folks... Whatever the topic was....I agreed with him. So, I e-mailed
Keith & that was how I got to know him.I sent some links to some
of my original music.... He really liked my "Edward Leigh" country
rock stuff. We agreed to do an e-mail collaboration. So...Keith
sends the track "Six Days"....a country standard. It had Keith's
lead vocal & harmonica....plus an unknown acoustic guitar player.
I added drums, bass & electric guitar...('85 Japanese Strat, I
believe). It was fun...

Thanks Lewis for adding me to this tribute page.... It's an honor to
be included. (from Lewis "... my pleasure; this kicks ass")

You Win Again: (From Lewis) I've been informed that this is
one of Keith's songs with Keith on harmonica, and his friend Brent
on guitar and vocals. Keith's daughter Kayla has also sent me
about 6 more of these recordings. I'll work on getting them
uploaded as soon as possible.
One and a Million More: (From Lewis) This is Keith singing
one of his songs a capella. I probably have about 6 more of these
on my computer. I'm gonna dig 'em out and put 'em up here too.
